Giving a sense of story and place to a couples wedding photographs is very important to me. On the doorstep of most wedding venues in Dublin, there are lovely locations for wedding photographs. For example Georgian Dublin, the banks of the Grand Canal, Dublin Castle and St. Stephen’s Green to name a few.
My Wedding Photography Style
My style is natural, flattering and unobtrusive.
Firstly I like to keep things simple and not make a fuss. The only time a couple have to worry about me is for the bridal and family portraits. The rest of the time I photograph everything in a documentary style.
I try to keep the family and bridal portraits as natural looking as possible. I typically photograph the bride and groom taking a walk through an area of Dublin close to the wedding venue.
This approach makes the bride and groom feel like they are taking a nice walk on their wedding day and not posing for wedding photographs.
I do not ask brides to pose on their wedding day. As a result, I feel they look at their most beautiful. I also try to keep the family pictures as “unposed” as possible. Asking people to walk towards the camera achieves this.
Giving people something to do makes the pictures look less stiff. I have noticed it makes people smile of their own accord.
My approach is especially good for people who do not like having their photograph taken. I do not like having my photograph taken myself so I understand how a bride and groom feel.
Overall I thing people do not really notice me. I do not like to impose myself on a couple’s wedding day.
Above all how happy couples have been with their wedding photographs is the most rewarding part of wedding photography for me.
