RSVP Magazine – Bride of The Week

Many thanks to RSVP Magazine for featuring one of my weddings in Bride of the Week. I always love photographing a registry office wedding because some of the most beautiful parts of Dublin are on the doorstep. I like to give a sense of story and place to a couple’s wedding day. The banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and Merrion Square Park make for the most beautiful backdrops for wedding photographs.

I had photographed Susan and Alan’s friends wedding. They really liked the pictures so they choose me to photograph their wedding also.

Susan dress was from Needle and Thread. It was delivered to her office so her colleague was the first to see it when I tried it on in her work bathroom. Wanting something non traditional and loved the pink colour at the bottom of this dress.

Susan and Alan had a small Registry Office ceremony with eleven family members. After the ceremony I photographed Susan and Alan walking through Georgian Dublin. They felt like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin on their wedding day. Not like they were posing for wedding photographs.

The lock across the canal also makes for an unusual setting for the family picture. I came up with the idea for this at the first registry office wedding I ever photographed. The scene has a painterly quality to it and makes for an unusual and unique photograph.

Susan and Alan then had dinner with their families at Marco Pierre White’s on Dawson Street. In the evening, they had a party for all friends in the Odeon on Harcourt Street.
