LGBT Wedding Photographer

Always delighted to work as an LGBT wedding photographer. It is wonderful to see how far Ireland has progressed in terms of liberty and equality for all. Everyone, everywhere in the world should be free to marry whom they love.

Without a doubt we should definitely be proud to be Irish. Given that we were the first country in the world to to legalise gay marriage by popular vote. This would have been unthinkable in the Ireland of yesteryear.

When I photograph an LGBT wedding it always crosses my mind how nice it is that there are two beautiful brides and two handsome grooms in the pictures. It is like a mirror image.

My Creative Approach To LGBT Weddings

With all wedding I like to photograph them in a natural, calm, artistic and unobtrusive way. People look at their very best when you photograph them in a natural way. I give some ideas and directions but it is minimal.

With a background in photojournalism and art I approach a wedding like a story. After graduating from NCAD I moved to New York for 10 years. Working with The New York Times for 7. Backgrounds are also really important to me in wedding photographs. Our beautiful city provides a beautiful backdrop to a couples wedding photographs.

For the couple’s portraits, I typically bring them for a walk in the surrounding areas. Thus people feel like they are taking a nice walk through Dublin after being married. Not like they are posing for wedding photographs.

The majority of couples who choose me do not like having their photograph taken. I kine to think that people feel comfortable in my presence. Couples tell me that they actually ended up enjoying the experience.

For the family pictures I try to keep these as natural looking as possible. I do this by asking everyone to walk towards the camera. It gives people something to do and makes them smile of their own accord. This idea came to me at the first wedding I ever photographed. To break up the straight line and make the pictures more dynamic. Guests always find it a bit of fun.

Registry Office LGBT Wedding Photography

For LGBT weddings at the Dublin Registry Office I have formulated a beautiful route for wedding photographs. Taking in the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and Merrion Square Park.

Additionally I photograph the group portrait of the guest stand on the Locks crossing the canal. The scene has a painterly quality to it and is an unusual angle. It is also only three minutes from the registry office.

Also the wry eye of Oscar is always a great backdrop for LGBT weddings in Merrion Square Park. I am positive Mr.Wilde is delighted with the Ireland we have become.

Given the current situation I am still able to capture your LGBT wedding beautifully whilst adhering to social distancing protocols. Technically I have to be at least 3 metres from the subject to achieve focus. Since I work in a natural and unobtrusive way I never need to touch or interfere in a scene.

Couples have always been delighted with their LGBT wedding photographs. So this is always the most rewarding part of wedding photography for me. Same Sex Wedding Photographer

I am always delighted to be asked to photograph a same sex wedding. It is great to see how far Ireland had come in terms of in terms of liberty and equality. Also it is nice to have two handsome grooms in the pictures.

I photographed Adrian and Derek’s wedding at the Registry Office in Dublin. They were looking for natural and candid pictures which is how I like to photograph a wedding. I think people look at their very best if you do not pose them. I give some ideas and directions but I try to make it as easy as possible.

Grooms look at their most handsome on their wedding day when a photographer can manage to blend into the background and they do that feel like there are being photographed.

I have been photographing Dublin Registry Office weddings for over 10 years. It is one of my favourite locations in Dublin to photograph a wedding. This is because of all the beautiful locations for wedding photographs close by.

My Creative Approach To A Same Sex Wedding

I always like to give a sense of story and place to a couple’s wedding photographs. The Grand Canal and Georgian Dublin make for lovely backdrops for wedding photographs. It also gives a nice sense of Dublin to the story of the day.

I also came up with the idea a few years ago to do the group portrait of the guest stand on the Locks crossing the canal. The scene has a painterly quality to it and is an unusual angle. It is also only three minutes from the registry office. It is thus handy for everyone to walk up to it. The banks of the canal beside the lock also are a lovely place for the family pictures.. All in all it does not take too much time, around 15 minutes.

After a lovely ceremony at the Registry Office we set off to the lock across the canal for the group photograph. Guests always find this a lot of fun. We also did some other pictures on the banks of the canal. Then we set off on a route through Georgian Dublin that Adrian and Derek’s were happy with.

Adrian and Derek’s felt like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin after being married and not like they were posing for wedding photographs. Their parents can along on the walk so we could take more group picture along the way.

We arrived at Merrion Square park for some pictures under the watchful eye of Oscar Wilde. I am positive he would be very happy with the Ireland we have become.
