Royal Hospital Kilmainham Wedding
It was a lovely Autumn day for Jane and Enda’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham Wedding. Photographing an IMMA wedding is a pleasure. I always like to give a sense of place and story to my wedding photographs. The Royal Hospital is one of the most perfect places in Dublin for this with all it’s beautiful surroundings.
I photographed the majority of Jane and Enda’s wedding candidly. So to capture the atmosphere of the day in a natural and unobtrusive manner. I think brides look at their most beautiful on their wedding day when you do not pose them.
After the wedding ceremony I photographed Jane and Enda walking through through the courtyards and walled gardens. This approach made Jane and Enda feel like they were talking a nice walk through the grounds of IMMA on their wedding day. So they did not feel like they were posing for wedding photographs.
The main courtyard also made for lovely backdrops for the family pictures. I also made as natural looking as possible. I do this by asking the guests to walk towards the camera for the portrait session. It gives people something to do and I find it makes people smile of their own accord. I came up with this ideas on the very first weeding I ever photographed to make the pictures more contemporary and natural.
Most importantly Jane and Enda were delighted with their photographs. They thought they looked very natural. This is always one of the most rewarding part of wedding photography for me.
