Christmas Wedding
A Christmas Wedding is one I always love to photograph. The Christmas tree and decorations give a festive atmosphere to a couples wedding photographs. They also make the photographs very rich. Christmas is one of the loveliest times of the year to get married. I think it also adds to the excitement of the day for a couple. There is something lovely about a Christmas or winter wedding.
These were some samples for Christmas weddings I have photographed over the years. At The Shelbourne Hotel, The Registry Office and Ghan House in Carlingford.
I always like to give a senses of time and place to a couples wedding photographs. There is usually still enough light after the ceremony to get nice pictures outside. Our beautiful city makes for such a lovely backdrop to wedding photographs. Combined with the festive interior photographs adds more to the story of the day.
My Creative Approach
At anytime of year I always like to photograph a wedding in a natural, calm, artistic and unobtrusive way. Primarily I like to keep things simple and not make a fuss. I find brides look at their most beautiful when they do not feel like they have to pose for wedding photographs. I do have to give some small directions but it is very minor. If you leave people alone and to their own devises everyone looks at their very best.
For the bridal portraits I normally bring the bride and groom for a walk in the surrounding areas. Our beautiful city makes for the loveliest backdrop for wedding pictures. Couples feel like they are taking a nice walk after being married and not like they are posing for photographs.
I also like to keep the family pictures and natural and quick as possible. If there is room I ask people to walk towards the camera. I came up with this ides on the first wedding I every photographed. To break up the straight line and make the pictures more contemporary and natural. It gives people something to do and makes them smile of their own accord. It is also a bit of fun and people usually enjoy it.
Not liking having my photograph taken myself so I know how you feel. Most people who choose me to photograph their wedding dislike being photographed. However all couple tell me that they actually enjoyed the process. It ended ups being a lot of fun and it added to the happy memories of the day rather than taking away from it.
Small Christmas Wedding
Small is beautiful. I have photographed many small weddings and elopements over the years. If you are planning a small Christmas wedding, even with two guests, I can tell a nice story of your day and you will have lots of lovely Christmas wedding photographs.

Given the current situation I am still able to capture your Christmas wedding beautifully whilst adhering to social distancing protocols. Technically I have to be at least 3 metres from the subject to achieve focus. Since I work in a natural and unobtrusive way I never need to touch or interfere in a scene.
