Registry Office Wedding

Registry Office Wedding. Vicki and Alan celebrated their registry office wedding on a lovely day in Dublin. They traveled from Scotland to get married at the Registry Office. I aimed to capture a nice sense of the city in their wedding photographs, especially since some of Dublin’s loveliest parts are nearby. I also enjoy taking couples along a specific route after their registry office ceremony, which includes the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin, and concludes at Merrion Square Park.

My Creative Approach To A Registry Office Wedding

I photographed Vikki and Alan as they were walking through this part of the city. Thus, they felt like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin on their wedding day. Not like they were posing for wedding photographs. I like to photograph a registry office wedding in a natural manner. Brides look at their most beautiful when they do not have to worry about posing.

Wedding guests look at their very best when they do not feel like someone is photographing them. The experience resembled a guided tour of Georgian Dublin. The photography was relaxing and enjoyable, providing a sense of story and place. We wrapped up the photography session at O’Donoghue’s on Baggot Street. Alan and Vikki wanted to enjoy a nice pint of Guinness in a traditional Irish pub.

What If It’s Raining?

I have photographed a number of weddings in the rain, so I have a backup plan for locations. That said, it has only happened on a few occasions, and 98% of the time, the weather behaves itself or clears up, so we can get all the pictures done.

On the few occasions it rained we were still able to get all the photographs with a few changes to locations. We can still do the group portion on the canal. Everyone can put their umbrellas up for one picture, like a parasol. Then take them down quickly so I can get that picture. So you will have both versions. There is good tree coverage on the banks of the canal to do the family pictures.

Then I go to St. Stephen’s Green with the couple. There is loads of good tree coverage there at all times of year. Close by is The National Library, Trinity College and The National Museum has beautiful architectural coverage to add to the story of the day.

When rain was forecast, a bride once bought a white umbrella that matched her dress. It thus added to the story and charm of the pictures.

So there are a lot of alternative options around the city centre so we can still get that nice sense of Dublin in the pictures. Whilst remaining dry and still enjoying the time. These are just ideas and of course if a couple has any other preferences around town.

Registry Office Wedding Photographer Dublin

Registry Office Wedding Photographer. With over 15 years of experience. It is one of my favourite locations in Dublin to photograph a wedding. This is because of all the lovely locations for wedding photographs that are close by.

I always like to give a sense of story and place to registry office wedding photographs.  Over the years I have formulated a nice route that takes in the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and Merrion Square Park.

This approach makes the bride and groom feel like they are taking a nice walk through Dublin on their wedding day. Thus they were not like they were posing for wedding photographs.  It also created a nice story of the day and I like to keep a couples’ wedding photographs as natural and unposed as possible.

I also came up with the idea a few years ago to do the group portrait of the guest stand on the Locks crossing the canal.  The scene has a painterly quality to it and is an unusual angle. It is also only three minutes from the registry office. It is thus handy for everyone to walk up to it.

The banks of the canal beside the lock also are a nice place for family pictures.  All in all it does not take too much time, around 15 minutes. The guests are then free to go to the reception venue. I set out with the bride and groom on the route and they are happy with the pictures.

The Registry Office Wedding Day

On this lovely spring day, I met with Sarah at her house to do the getting ready pictures. This I find can be some of the nicest of the day. I never ask people to pose so I always photograph the getting-ready pictures naturally. I just photograph what is happening at the house.

The neighbours and friends gathered at the house to wish the bride well and see her dress, These are very charming pictures of the day. It was then off to the registry office for a lovely wedding ceremony.

After Sarah and Keith were married I set off with the guests to the lock across the canal for the group photograph.  Guests always find a lot of fun.  It is not your typical group shot angle and everyone always seems to enjoy it.

We then did the family pictures on the banks of the canal. There I also try to make as natural looking as possible. This all went very quickly and then the guests could go off to the reception venue.  I set off with Sarah & Keith on the route we had agreed upon.

Registry Office Wedding Photography

I hope you enjoyed my Registry Office wedding photography. I am a registry office wedding photographer in Dublin with over 10 years of experience. It is one of my favourite locations in Dublin to photograph a wedding. This is because of all the lovely locations for wedding photographs close by.

The Wedding Day

On this lovely summers day I met with Susan and Alan at the registry office. After a lovely wedding ceremony we all set off with the guests to the lock across the canal for the group photograph. Guests always find this a lot of fun.  It is not your typical group shot angle and everyone always seems to enjoy it. The photograph also has a painterly quality to it. 

We then did the family pictures on the banks of the canal. There I also try to make as natural looking as possible. This all went very quickly and then the guests could go off to the reception venue.  I then set off with Alan and Susan on the route we had agreed upon.

The couple were dog lovers so we also met a shaggy dog that was happy to pose with Susan and Alan for a few photographs.

Dublin Registry Office Wedding

Dublin Registry Office Wedding. A lovely sunny day in December for Janette and Riley’s Dublin Registry Office Wedding.

Since it gets dark early at this time of year, Janette and Riley decided to meet before the ceremony. There are especially some lovely moments of them seeing each other for the first time at The Morgan Hotel.

We all then set off on a nice route I have planned out over the years for pictures near the registry office. Taking in the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and Merrion Square Park by the Oscar Wilde statue. I always like to give a sense of story and place to a registry office wedding photographs.

I always really enjoy photographing a wedding at the Dublin registry office. It is one of my favourite type of weddings to photograph. There are so many beautiful backdrops for the photographs in the surrounding areas.

My Creative Approach To A Registry Office Wedding

Since my background is as a photojournalist, I always like to give a sense of story and place to a couples wedding photographs. I went to New York straight after college and worked with The New York Times for seven years.

I really just photographed Janette and Riley walking through the city. Such an approach always makes the bride and groom feel like they are taking a nice walk through Dublin on their wedding day. Not like they were posing for wedding photographs. It also creates a nice story of the day.

After that, we met with the wedding guests on the banks of the canal, just two minutes from the registry office. It is a nice spot for photographs and very handy as it is so close.

The idea came to me at Janette and Riley’s wedding to do the group portrait standing on the Locks crossing the canal. It makes for a nice new angle and has a painterly quality to it. In addition guests always find it a bit of fun too.

The majority of couples that choose me as their wedding photographer do not like having their photograph taken. However couples always tell me that my approach added to the experience and memories of their day rather than taking away from it.

I think it would be lovely for couples in years to come to look back at pictures of them strolling through our lovely city on their wedding day.

Above all Janette and Riley were delighted with their photographs. So this is always the most rewarding part of wedding photography for me.

Hampton Hotel Wedding

It was a lovely summers day for Louise and Damien at the registry office and their Hampton Hotel Wedding.

I always really enjoy photographing a Dublin registry office wedding because of all the nice backdrops in the surrounding areas. The most beautiful and historic areas of Dublin are right on the doorstep.

I have a favourite route that I like to take couples along after their registry office wedding. It takes in the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and finally to Merrion Square Park.

I find it makes couples feel like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin after the wedding.  It is not like they were posing for wedding photographs, it is also fun and relaxed.

I also came up with the idea recently of having the guest stand on the Locks crossing the canal for the group photograph which I think looks lovely.

That area of the canal is only a three-minute walk from the registry office. Thus, it is also very convenient for family pictures. It all makes for a lovely story of your wedding day.

The whole process from the registry office to Merrion square takes around 45 minutes. It will thus not take a lot of time out of your wedding day.

The Wedding Day

It was a nice spring day for Claire and Mark’s wedding ceremony. It was at The Dublin Registry Office and reception and The Ely Wine Bar. I always like to give a sense of place to my photographs. There are some lovely backdrops near the registry office and the Ely Wine Bar. Making for a nice story of the day.

Mark is a librarian so we thought it would be a nice idea to do some photographs outside The National Library.  It actually gives a nice sense of Dublin and its history to the pictures.

So I also photographed Mark and Claire taking a walk around St. Stephen’s Green. Feeling like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin after the wedding ceremony. It was thus not like they were posing for wedding photographs.

We met up with Mark and Claire’s families and did a nice group portrait on the steps of a Georgian building near the Ely Wine Bar.

Registry Office Wedding Photography

Registry Office Wedding Photography. A lovely day in Dublin for Eadaoin & Daniel’s registry office wedding photography and Clarion Hotel wedding reception. Eadaoin & Daniel have seven children so photographs with their kids on their wedding day were very important to them. The locks crossing the canal near the registry office make for a lovely place for a family photograph and the scene has a painterly quality to it. The pictures of Eadaoin & Daniel with their children standing on the lock are some of the nicest of the day. The children also found it a lot of fun.

Registry Office Wedding Photography Creative Approach

After a lovely ceremony at the registry office we all travelled on to the Clarion Hotel for a wedding reception. Also stopping on the way for photographs at the Lucan Golf club. The grounds and lakes made for a lovely setting for the wedding photographs. Eadaoin & Daniel’s chose me as their wedding photographer as they do not like posing for photographs. I like to photograph a wedding candidly to capture the atmosphere of the day in a natural and unobtrusive manner. They both really appreciated this. I photographed Eadaoin & Daniel’s walking around the lake at Lucan Golf club. So this approach made them feel like they were taking a nice walk on their wedding day. Not Like they were posing for wedding photographs. It only took about 5 to 10 minutes so they were not away from their party for too long.

Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley Wedding Reception

We travelled on to the Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley for the wedding reception and we did some more family pictures at the hotel. The white curtains in the reception room made for a great backdrop. I also tried to make these pictures as natural as possible. Achieving this by asking everyone to walk towards the camera. It gives people something to do and I find it makes people smile of their own accord. Also the kids also really enjoyed it. I came up with this ideas on the very first weeding I ever photographed to make the pictures more contemporary and natural. The beautiful wedding cake reflected Daniel’s love of fishing.

Same Sex Wedding at The Registry Office in Dublin

Thankfully it was a lovely day in Dublin for Louise and Matt’s wedding at the Dublin Registry Office. They had travelled from the UK for a destination wedding in Dublin. So the good weather was even more appreciated by everyone. It was also just before the lockdown so thankfully their special day was able to happen.

Always delighted to be asked to photograph a same sex wedding. It is wonderful to see how far Ireland had come in terms of in terms of liberty and equality. Everyone is now free to marry whoever they love.

The Wedding Day

I met with Louise and Matt at the Oscar Wilde Statue in Merrion Square. The wry eye of Oscar is always a nice backdrop for LGBT wedding photographs. I am sure Mr.Wilde is delighted with the Ireland we have become.

Louise and Matt wanted to do the majority of their pictures before the ceremony. This is always an option for couple. After pictures in Merrion Square I photographed Matt and Louise walking through Georgian Dublin on their way to the Registry Office.

Louise and Matt felt like they were taking in the sights of Dublin and not like they were having their photographs taken.

After a lovely ceremony we set off for the banks of the Grand Canal. It is just 3 minutes from the Registry Office. The family really enjoyed doing the picture on the lock. I stand on the bridge above so that gives me the perfect angle. We also did some family pictures on the bank of the canal.

The day wound up a lovely meal at The Green Hotel on Cuffe Street.

Given the current situation I am still able to capture your registry office wedding in Dublin beautifully whilst adhering to social distancing protocols. I always photograph the portraits outside using some of the loveliest areas of Dublin that are close by. The Grand Canal and Georgian Dublin. I use a portrait lens so technically I have to be at least 3 metres from the subject to achieve focus. Always capturing a wedding in a natural and unobtrusive way. So I never need to touch or interfere in a scene.

What If It’s Raining?

I have photographed a number of weddings in the rain so I have a backup plan for locations. That said it has only happened on a few occasions and 98% of the time the weather behaves itself. Or it clears up so we can get all the pictures done.

On the few occasions it rained we were still able to get all the photographs with a few changes to locations. We can still do the group portion on the canal. Everyone can put their umbrellas up for one picture, like a parasol. Then take them down quickly so I can get that picture. So you will have both versions. There is good tree coverage on the banks of the canal to do the family pictures.

Then I go to St. Stephen’s Green with the couple. There is loads of good tree coverage there at all times of year. Close by is The National Library, Trinity College and The National Museum has beautiful architectural coverage to add to the story of the day.

When rain was forecast, a bride once bought a white umbrella that matched her dress. It thus added to the story and charm of the pictures.

So there are a lot of alternative options around the city centre so we can still get that nice sense of Dublin in the pictures. Whilst remaining dry and still enjoying the time. These are just ideas and of course if a couple has any other preferences around town.

Registry Office Wedding Photography

Registry office wedding photography. It was a lovely sunny winters day for Alison & Brendan’s wedding at the registry office wedding photography. Since it gets dark early Alison & Brendan decided to meet before the ceremony to have their pictures taken.So we all set off on a route we have planned out for wedding photographs near the registry office. It takes in the banks of the Grand Canal, Georgian Dublin and Merrion Square Park by the Oscar Wilde statue.

My Creative Approach to

Registry Office Wedding Photography

I always really enjoy registry office wedding photography. Situated close to the registry office are the nicest parts of Dublin. I photographed Alison & Brendan taking a walk through the city on their way to be married. This approach makes the bride and groom feel like they are taking a nice walk through Dublin on their wedding day and not like they were posing for wedding photographs. It also created a nice story of the day. Following their registry office wedding Alison & Brendan took a horse drawn carriage ride through the city to the Shelbourne Hotel. I sat up front with the driver and I highly recommend it. It is a lovely way to see the city on your wedding day.

Micro Wedding

Small is beautiful. I have been photographing Micro weddings for over 10 years. Photography them long before the term was coined or I was aware of a micro wedding myself.

Small weddings were always been my favourite to photograph. I alway felt couples were more relaxed and spending their wedding day with those who matter most to them. Undoubtedly less stressful for everyone.

Even with just two guests you will still have a wide variety of pictures. There are so many beautiful locations in our city close together to add to the story of your day.

A micro wedding automatically means limiting guests and budget takes a lot of stress out of planning a wedding in the current times.

The planning should be more simple and fun. 

A micro wedding removes a lot of the usual fuss and detail and allows a couple to refocus on what truly matters most. Marrying the person you love surrounded by those who mean the most to you. 

Obviously couples may be disappointed about having too postpone a large wedding. In spite of this we can still create a lovely story of your smaller wedding around our beautiful city and countryside. 

The reception will be really enjoyable when you do not have to play host. I have seen what fun couples have when the wedding is small. 

These were some samples from Micro weddings I have photographed over the years. At The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, The Dublin Registry Office and Ghan House in Carlingford.

My Creative Approach

With all my weddings, big or small. I like to photograph them in natural, calm, artistic and unobtrusive way. Above all I like to keep things simple and not make a fuss. The couples that choose me as their photographer always really appreciate this approach. It makes the day easier for them when they do not have to worry about posing all day.  

Most importantly brides look at their most beautiful on their wedding day when they do not feel under pressure to pose. I do have to give some small directions but it is very minor. Hence if you leave people alone and to their own devises everyone looks at their very best.

For the couples portraits I normally bring the bride and groom for a walk in the surrounding areas. Our beautiful city makes for the loveliest backdrop for wedding pictures. Couples feel like they are taking a nice walk after being married and not like they are posing for photographs.

Keeping the family pictures and natural and quick as possible is always one of my concerns. If there is room I ask people to walk towards the camera. I came up with this ides on the first wedding I every photographed. To break up the straight line and make the pictures more contemporary and natural. It gives people something to do and makes them smile of their own accord. Always a bit of fun and people usually enjoy it.

Same Sex Wedding Photographer

I am always delighted to be asked to photograph a same sex wedding. It is great to see how far Ireland had come in terms of in terms of liberty and equality. Also it is nice to have two handsome grooms in the pictures.

I photographed Adrian and Derek’s wedding at the Registry Office in Dublin. They were looking for natural and candid pictures which is how I like to photograph a wedding. I think people look at their very best if you do not pose them. I give some ideas and directions but I try to make it as easy as possible.

Grooms look at their most handsome on their wedding day when a photographer can manage to blend into the background and they do that feel like there are being photographed.

I have been photographing Dublin Registry Office weddings for over 10 years. It is one of my favourite locations in Dublin to photograph a wedding. This is because of all the beautiful locations for wedding photographs close by.

My Creative Approach To A Same Sex Wedding

I always like to give a sense of story and place to a couple’s wedding photographs. The Grand Canal and Georgian Dublin make for lovely backdrops for wedding photographs. It also gives a nice sense of Dublin to the story of the day.

I also came up with the idea a few years ago to do the group portrait of the guest stand on the Locks crossing the canal. The scene has a painterly quality to it and is an unusual angle. It is also only three minutes from the registry office. It is thus handy for everyone to walk up to it. The banks of the canal beside the lock also are a lovely place for the family pictures.. All in all it does not take too much time, around 15 minutes.

After a lovely ceremony at the Registry Office we set off to the lock across the canal for the group photograph. Guests always find this a lot of fun. We also did some other pictures on the banks of the canal. Then we set off on a route through Georgian Dublin that Adrian and Derek’s were happy with.

Adrian and Derek’s felt like they were taking a nice walk through Dublin after being married and not like they were posing for wedding photographs. Their parents can along on the walk so we could take more group picture along the way.

We arrived at Merrion Square park for some pictures under the watchful eye of Oscar Wilde. I am positive he would be very happy with the Ireland we have become.
